Sabbath Roots : The African Connection
Published in Paperback by Ministerial Association (14 May, 1999)
Authors: Charles Bradford and Charles E. Bradford

Interesting Sabbath Literature
This book is a good read for any Sabbatarian wishing to learn about the Sabbath keepers in Africa. Not much is mentioned about earlier Sabbath history, like the Sabbatarians of Ethiopia. For Christian Sabbath keepers, it is nice to learn that the Sabbath has been kept in Africa for more than 100 years. Charles Bradford does an admirable job of piecing together the non-adventist history and honors other groups in addition to the adventist history.

Silk Ribbon Embroidery: For Gifts and Garments (Milner Craft Series)

Silk Ribbon Embroidery for Gifts and Garments
On the whole I was very disappointed with this book, the designs are beautiful and the projects look easy but the book presentation is lacking.

Possibly to cut costs the publishers have 55 black and white pages with 8 colour pages in the middle. In those 8 colour pages there are 12 pictures that show 26 finished projects. I find that they are so small you can hardly see the detail in them.

Nevertheless, there are many useful ideas and lots of sketches accompanying the project write-ups. The instructions are also clear and easy to follow. The embroidery style is fine and delicate, using silk ribbons and threads, and is perfect for clothing and washable items as the embroidery is well secured and sits quite flat.

This book is a good book to buy if you want to add it to your collection, but not as a reference book.

A Tiger's Tale: The Indian Tiger's Struggle for Survival in the Wild

An interesting tale of tigers
"A Tiger's Tale" was an interesting and beautifully photographed book. It covers many details of the behavior of Indian tigers. While it is an excellent book for a light read about the plight of the tigers, it does not, in my opinion, cover enough of the issues surrounding the survival of the park and the threats humanity places against the lives of these big cats. The pictures, though, more than make up for that!

Voice of the Heart

******* Typical Barbara Taylor Bradford *******
I just finished "Voice of the Heart" and it was good, if not slightly tacky. The middle section was pretty long (like about 600 pages) but held my attention though most of it, and the ending was fairly satisfying and unpredictable enough to surprise you. Good character descriptions and a good storyline. Worth a read.

WHIP IT AT THE WALL
This is my first encounter with Barbara Taylor Bradford and will be my LAST! She spent more time "Name Dropping" with all of the tourist places and restaurants in N.Y. and Venice assuming we know what she's talking about. Her love scenes were a JOKE. The dialog between Bill and Vanessa were awkward and stillted, not steamy or passionate. The story jumped around too much to keep track of where Bill and Vanessa were and how they were supposed to meet? And it doesn't make sense for Vanessa to divorce one husband because he is never home and seriously think about settling down with Bill WHO'S NEVER HOME. Then once Vanessa has divorced her husband, Bill is killed by terrorists which only leaves Vanessa alone with no one but Bill's old mom and young daughter? WHAT'S THE POINT! THERE IS NO MORAL TO THE STORY. The ending just made me mad enough to take it and...WHIP IT AT THE WALL!

Not worth the time
I listened to the audio-version of the book and am I glad. This book was too depressing and it was only Los Angeles traffic that kept me listening. I was very depressed when the book ended with its sad story. Not all books are "happily ever after" but this book was barely "happy" at all.

Romance With a Twist
This was a book I couldn't stop reading. True, it's a romance story, but I think it's more than that. It's very poignant, and it has a bittersweet ending...all the good things that make for a great romance book.

Three Weeks in Paris

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK
This isn't the worst book I've ever read but it's very close. The story is about four former friends who haven't spoken to each other in seven years but will be reunited when they celebrate their mentor's eighty-fifth birthday. What makes this book so bad is the fact that you don't care about any of the characters. All of their tribulations are all summarized so you don't experiance them with the girls.

The feud that tore apart their "strong" bonds was juvenile and pathetic, worthy of only junior high students. One of the biggest beefs I had with the book is the fact that Alexa leaves America engaged to a fabulous guy and then hooks up with her old flame. Suddenly they're together and you never hear another word about Jack. In fact by the end of the book you're not sure she's even called him to break off the engagement.
If you feel like you absolutely must read this monstrosity, borrow it from the library and don't waste your money.

NOT TOO GREAT
Sorry I did not wait to buy this book used. Was not worth the full price I paid.....The main characters were very predictable and kind of boring....You know from the start where this story is going....Too much descriptions of the streets of Paris and houses....The story is about four women who return to Paris 7 years after graduating from Anya Sedgwick's School of Decorative Art....These women were best friends while attending school, but had a terrible fight and left after graduating. each persuing her own life and career without contacting each other all the years since..... They each received an invitation to attend their beloved teacher, Anya's 85th birthday party......They all attended and the rest of the story is spent rekindling old memories and revisiting all their old haunts.....etc. etc...If you want to read this book I suggest you borrow it from your library.

A Great Escape
For those looking to escape the reality of todays headlines, this book is a really good diversion.

Barbara Taylor Bradford in a wonderful story teller and this book is surely one of her best.

Although she has created 4 interesting lead characters, the star of this story is the lovely city of Paris (which is described in great detail). BTB makes the most of the city in setting up the story as the drama unfolds.

Readers will also enjoy the character of Anya who is the mentor to the four successful women who return to Paris for her milestone birthday. Anya is spunky and sharp, as she tries to reconcile old friendships and encourage her pupils to make sense of their past.

Suspenseful and well written, this is one of Barbara's better novels.

Love in Another Town

They deserve each-other!
The book is very over-simplified and the main hero of the story is a jerk!

He has left his wife, who still loves him, basically so he could seek greener pastures. When she becomes seriously ill, he just sort of pats her arm and looks forward to when she will die and not be a burden on his health insurance any more. His new object of desire is not much better - she spits venom at her college-age children for staying with their father in the town where they had grown up. It is way too convenient for the author that the wife dies and clears the way for our hero and heroine to get married, so they don't have to face up to how he ruined his first wife's life.

Add to that a few totally unlikely scenes, like the woman's ex-husband groveling at her to take him back after a few years (that never happens) and the stupid near-death experience, and you have a pretty silly piece of work.

sweet little romance for summer reading
Barbara Taylor Bradford's "Love in Another Town" is a lightweight little book to read on a breezy summer afternoon, lying in the hammock. Her story unfolds smoothly, effortlessly, with apt descriptions of people and places; she has a sure touch with realistic dialogue, and a sure knowledge into her characters' hearts.

She swings into the supernatural with the account of a life-changing near-death experience of one of the women. All ends
well as people grow through misfortune, make their choices, find
authentic love and happiness.

Recommended for a couple of carefree summer hours under a big shade tree---lemonade would be good too!

A Great Short Story
I loved this book because it is a wonderful short story by an author always known for extensive (400+ page) novels. The story is captivating and leaves the reader wanting more! Too bad this was only a short story. It was also a wonderful TV movie!

Macroeconomics
Published in Hardcover by Irwin Professional Pub (September, 2002)
Author: Bradford Delong
Average review score:

Total Garbage
This book has been written for one purpose: to make this filthy fat man (the author) even more richer. But the detrimental effect this book has on students is too immense to mention here. The book lacks coherance. Bradford Delong seems to pushing his agenda rather than teaching economics via a medium of a textbook. I think author is an opportunistic philistine. I hope there is a trial against such useless academics who with intent impose such misery on introductory economics students.

The book should not have been published in the first place. I don't believe if this book serves any purpose when there are so many other books available. It would have made a difference had this been a good book but it is not.

In all honesty do not buy this book.

A book that did not deserve to be published
I have read this book twice and see no reason why the author wrote this book. The book is not written in a language that will introduce the subject to the beginners and those who know something will be confused. Bradford Delong is a below average writer. His grammar is definitely not strong. It would have helped if his editor had been a good one. Please do not write another edition of this book for it is not going to benefit anyone. As an academic De Long should be ashamed of his credentials. In short, I give this book a generous D- for all the effort. F grade for his writing and a D for his presentation. If you can please avoid this book for it is not worth the price you are paying for it.

Excellent intermediate macroeconomics textbook
I'm a little baffled at the complaints leveled at DeLong's macroeconomics textbook. Though I wouldn't recommend it as an introductory textbook, as an intermediate level text, I found it quite impressive (Berkeley compacts intro. micro and macro in a one semester course, then mandates seperate intermediate micro and macro courses for majors). DeLong's writing is lively and engaging, a breath of fresh air when compared to the mechanical breakdown and prose of most economics books. More than that, however, its explanation of macroeconomic concepts is clear. I haven't come across a better econ textbook yet.

A Sudden Change of Heart

Please stop publishing this garbage!
I keep borrowing BTB books from the library (won't pay for this) hoping she'll get better - and she only gets worse! This story has holes you could drive a truck through. The characters are flat, the action non-existent. It's bad! BAD! BAD!
Spoiler warning - two quick examples. The entire story is based on two children ages 5 and 10, being best friends. Ain't goona happen. And, in one crucial scene, two dying women are found shot on the floor, and their rescuer(?) calls an ambulance, then makes a pot of tea and sits there for 30 minutes. Does anyone in her world know first aid?!
Do not buy this book. Do not read it.

Difficult to get through....
My sister warned me not to read it, but i did anyway. It was like reading a badly written soap opera. It was not at all what i expected from the book.

Made me Cry
I've read most of BTB's books. When I'm done with them, I donate them or sell them. But to me "A Sudden Change of Heart" was one of her best and I'm keeping it.

Even though I agree with some of the other readers, that the "language" the characters spoke was a bit antiquated and formal, I really enjoyed the book.

I was at a doctor's appointment today, and I started to tear while I was reading what happened to Claire. I had to stop for awhile.

The friendship between Laura and Claire is very much alike to my best friend and me. We've known each other since we're 5 & 6 - and we'll be celebrating our 30th anniversary next year - so this kind of friendship does exist.

Don't be afraid to buy this book. Try it, you may like it!
